The equipment and products that we use at Tile Doctor work equally well on Vinyl floors so I thought I would share with you this example of an LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) floor that I regularly maintain at a community club in Potters Green. These floors are very durable with low maintenance but like Tile and Stone they do need to be deep cleaned and sealed to maintain their appearance.

In this case the club has installed an anti-slip LVT floor in the rear function room which is used to host events including weddings and private parties. As a result, it does see a lot of wear so I pop round every six months to maintain it which involves deep cleaning, resealing and generally restoring the polished appearance.

Deep Cleaning LVT Vinyl Flooring in a Community Club

On arrival the first job was to clear the rooms of its many fittings and chairs, fortunately there are several carpeted areas around the floor where these can be stacked up. Once this was done, we got started by applying Tile Doctor Neutral Tile Cleaner which is then left it to soak in for ten minutes.

This product removes light soiling and any chemical residue left from routine mopping. A floor buffer fitted with a soft brush is then used to thoroughly clean the surface and reach into the anti-slip grooves of the LVT flooring. Once done the floor is rinsed with water and the soiling extracted with a vet vacuum.

This floor is regularly maintained so I don’t usually have any issues however for tougher problems I resort to Tile Doctor Vinyl Strip which is a stronger product. Vinyl Strip will soften old polish that builds up on these floors allowing it to be removed.

Before moving onto the next stage of applying a fresh sealer the floor needs to be dry so I leave a couple of fans around the floor to help speed this up and then leave it for a few hours.

Once the vinyl floor is completely dry the application of the sealer can begin for which I use Tile Doctor Seal & Go. Three coats of Seal & Go sealer are applied to protect the surface, enhance its appearance, and help maintain its durability between scheduled deep cleans. Once dry I give the floor a buff with a white buffing pad to bring up the shine.

You can see from the photos how well the LVT responds to the treatment and now looks so much cleaner with a lovely subtle sheen. To increase the longevity of the sealer I have instructed the cleaning team to only use Neutral Tile Cleaner on this floor, anything stronger will prematurely erode the sealer.
